Maybe you're right, they had no legal option. They still had the ability to put pressure on the Scottish Government not to do it. Obama could have made a public plea on TV for the Scottish Government not to release him, or he could have threatened them in private. He apparently did nothing.
I thought Obama was loved the world over, yet Scotland spit in his eye.
