I am referring to this: When he has marked a particular conversation as serious, such as our suspended thread on the question of whether socialism is a valid perspective on the continuum between anarchy and totalitarianism, he does not pee in the water without apologizing, out of respect for the seriousness of the conversation. Nor does he dip in the water when he's not fully prepared to be a sincere participant. Other than that he feels free to fling poo this way and that, but he *does* respect the inner sanctum of an actual civil discussion.
