I don't see mentioned the UltraVNC SC (single click) and JAVA support.

Paying to take advantage of some technologies is unavoidable, but remote
connections over the net can be done for free, albeit with some developer
effort. But a little effort compared to a recurring bill ?

To see client's screen:

With SC you compile and distribute an EXE along with your app. When client
wants to share a screen with you, you start the vnc viewer in listen mode,
client clicks a command or selects a menu item, and walla. From what I can
see, it's as reliable as anything else on the net. If your IP changes,
you'll need to distribute the EXE, so a static IP is very helpful.

To share your screen:

With the JAVA approach (client or propsect does need to have JAVA
installed), the client can either use a command/menu item or clicks a URL in
your email note.

If no JAVA, client can always have a copy of vncviewer installed, also
launchable by product command/menu selection.

In all cases, the client is just clicking one thing to share your or his/her
screen. Yes, file transfer is supported. The list of supported features is a
moving target, but their website is at http://www.uvnc.com/
