Check out: www.distrowatch.com On the right side will be a list of the most accessed distros (at least according to this site) and you'll see Ubuntu leading the list, as it's done for a couple years or so. Recommended. OTOH this site lets you take a quick peek at the other distros and usually has some screenshots so you can get a feel for what the distro is like. Kinda.... One of the big things with Linux is you can choose among various desktop front ends. One is called KDE and more or less is windows-like. Another is Gnome and it is more or less Mac-like. Then there's Fluxbox and XFCE that are really stripped down desktops.... some people like that, some don't.... Oh, and if you don't like a desktop, you can change it....
