I think it should be objectified. As you noted it is the same pattern throughout. I just don't think it calls for XML, the continual parsing of which seems unnecessarily heavy. XML seems to me like a great export/import format for data. And it works as a means to move presentation data over a network, say from a web service to a web page in an Ajax situation, but it doesn't seem to me to be the best format even in that case.
