That's odd because i don't know ANYONE who doesn't like Win 7 compared to XP. XP was good, Vista was horrible, but 7 looks good and works well. I have very few problems with it and know no one who is complaining about it. The major purpose of any operating system is to get the hell out of the way and let applications run well. 7 does that. OS X does that ubuntu is well... an extremely minor and difficult to use/deploy non-alternative.
My demands on an OS are pretty simple. I want it to work and work fast. That's it. 7 does that. I'm not a fan of MS per se. I'm a fan of things that work and work easily. I started my days in punched cards on an operating system that made DOS 1.0 look advanced. It was fun. I was a nerd who liked getting into it. Using debug to install a new drive was fun. Writing software in 16Kb was a challenge. That has changed. I'm now predominantly a USER of computers and so my demands are different yet really simple. I want it to work. First time. Easily. No hassles. That's why I like 7. Especially end users, but also developers and to some extent, support personnel. Yes, I know some DO like it and I'll admit the eye candy has a lot to like! But there are just so many issues that after a while, you just start asking "Isn't this supposed to make things BETTER?" ....and, it doesn't. At least half the people I support have expressed that they liked using their computer better with WinXP after they have spent a couple of months on 7 or (gag) Vista.
