I would be very surprised to see a September (2001, at least) release
of woody. It isn't frozen yet (potato was frozen for many months
before release) and the boot-floppies still appear to require a lot of
work. Nonetheless, I've been running it on one of my systems for
several months with few (but not zero) problems, none related to KDE
2.1.
However, if Progeny could provide updates to Newton to provide newer
versions of packages (as it has in the case of X), that would be great.
