I can't guarantee that the GTK code works outside of Linux (it seems that
you can guarantee that it does not). As I mentioned in the script, you
can try out image3 or platimg (documented on the wiki). For a truly
platform-independent option, you can always convert to a bitmap and load
using readbmp from the bmp addon.
