Marshall, First let me apologize for DWLing you; I confuse you and David Ward Lambert. I have used image3 successfully before, but now I find my Mac is an unsupported platform. I am unfamiliar with platimg, but it too looks like it only works with J602 and I am not sure it works with Mac Lion.
I see Bill Lam is suggesting that I read bmp files. I may look into that at some point. But I don't have much incentive just now. Also, I don't know what convolution means in the context of image processing, but I can research that, also.
