Actually that seems to be close to what we do when we project 3 dimensions onto 
a 2 dimension screen using perspective. Of course, we use scaling, opacity and 
other depth cues as well, but essentially the intermediate angle provides us a 
line to project along another dimension.

Seems crowded to me, but I'll think about it for a bit. 

With that I would suggest that if you want to respond further we move our
