Thanks all. That's what I thought too. I've never studied J's C code so I'll have to first study it to evaluate how long it will take to implement something like this. From perusing Roger's paper about the c programming style used for J implementation (http://nsl.com/papers/origins.htm) it appears that it'll take a little while to wrap my head around this style of programming. I'll give it a try. Any pointers pertaining to pages explaining the structure of interpreter's c code will be very helpful.
