Maybe? Personally, I learned J by spending half hours, here and there (maybe not even every day, though some weeks had me playing with J almost every day) for an extended period of time (a few years, actually). Then again, I've been fairly lackadaisical. I'm not sure if "effort" is the right word, here, but I'm not sure if it's the wrong word, either.
