There are gazillions of PDF readers. All have their ups & downs; after trying many of them I settled on Sumatra as I found it least offensive, and it does the job. Foxit used to be great, but has fallen off, IMO. The BitDefender warning about Sumatra is a false positive, BTW, see https://forum.sumatrapdfreader.org/t/ms-or-bitdefender-virus-malware-false-positive-warning/3331 You can always make sure the checksum is valid :)
One of the problems with PDF is that Adobe has hung on to many of its rights, so those who want to e.g. write PDF editors find themselves having to get a licence from Adobe. This partially cripples the opposition, but they are almost all still less offensively bloated and nasty than the decaying beached whale carcass of Acrobat. With Acrobat the only positive I can find is the fiery nature of user comments on the Web, which make for very amusing reading. My 2c, Jo.
