I agree that it is important to document well how to communicate with files etc.
Those kind of operations are often the first things a newbie wants to do. For a person familiar with J all those things are easy and it is easy to forget that there may be a need to explain it better. The functionality is all there and it is explained a bit but more actual explanations and examples would be helpful.
