Several years ago we used BibConvert for importing some BibTeX files to
an Invenio instance. The `bibtex2marcxml' configuration has not been
committed to Invenio sources, but I can commit it if you would like to
see it for inspiration or give it a try.
Bibutils (http://sourceforge.net/p/bibutils/home/Bibutils/) might also
offer an easily adoptable path. Essentially, it is a commandline
conversion tool from <a bunch of common formats> -> XML -> <a bunch of
other common formats>.
One of the nice features would be that it converts bibtex -> MODS XML as
an intermediate format and there should be tools available to have MODS
-> MarcXML eg. by XSL tranforms. Checking LoC might be helpful here.
@Tibor: in a way, integration of this tool chain in Invenio might make a
lot of sense for our users to facilitate upload of documents/metadata.
Especially for interaction with your local bibtex/Endnote library this
tools would close the circle.
