Have you considered purchasing something more substantial for backup power? With the
summer coming, and long-term solutions a year or two in the making, you will probably
being seeing them more often as the season progresses...
What with your technical capabilities, a ~$350 investment (two automobile batteries in
series, a 500W, 24Vin inverter, and a few ancillary components to integrate it into
your present UPS and provide for charging when the power company IS working) and a
little elbow work could yield you at least an hour (if not more) of uninteruptable
power for one of your computers (and it's monitor)...
