thanks for that i'll check it out this a brand new box and fresh install of protel and all programs are you suggesting that one of the progs mess with that file?
update: now on this new system (and not yet having looked into dwight's suggestion) sometimes closing the DDB shuts down protel unexpectedly is this consistent with the MDAC prob?
