Richard,
        you beat me to the punch. For the intent and purpose of ERC checks,
open Collector functions the same. I can't recall any CAD system I have used
having open Drains as an option (maybe the high end Cadence or Mentor
tools?), I have always used open Collectors in that circumstance.
