OK, The components are now selectable (thanks Terry)
The next problem is that the component designators and comments don't want to move. I have come across this in the past, the answer being export to spreadsheet and set the moveable attribute of all component text to TRUE. I can do this BUT! ... when I try to update the PCB from the spreadsheet Protel complains. Its error message reads: Library component name has changed, process aborted.
