To be honest I don't think the prices are that high anymore, I was looking at two Mitsubishi 22" monitors for about $700 before shipping, I remember dishing out $2500 for an NEC 6FG.

I got 4, 21" Hitachi monitors for $90 each. Works great. A local guy had bought a pallet of them at auction. I suspect they came from local hospitals, who have the bucks to go the lcd's.
