Until now, I've never heard the phrase "bucket Gary> truck." *shrug* A bucket truck has a truck attached to the lift. For example: http://www.buckettrucks.com/ Gary> Does anyone know what kind of Ubiquiti radios are in the Gary> SkyPilot APs? I did once. You can see the radios on the FCC website. Gary> If they're just a Ubiquiti OEM then what was wrong with their Gary> deployment aside from their banner ad model? Poor density? Lack Gary> of radio tuning? Inadequate bandwidth? Some or all of the above? Since we've only been able to observe behavior of the skypilot from outside, it is impossible to say for sure. But certainly density was a factor. If you read SkyPilot's white papers, it becomes apparent that they use some kind of funky radio/antenna scheduling to try to avoid self-interference. It is possible that the NanoStation they sell might include some of that special software sauce. I am not sure what the hardware platform is that runs the SkyPilot radios, so it would not be possible to determine if you could or should run some other firmware until we got possession of one and could play. -- Russell Senior, Secretary [EMAIL PROTECTED] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ The Personal Telco Project - http://www.personaltelco.net/ Donate to PTP: http://www.personaltelco.net/donate Archives: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.wireless.portland.general/ Etiquette: http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/MailingListEtiquette List information: http://lists.personaltelco.net To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
