#383: HAL detect module cannot find ALSA card (hda-intel) on Thinkpad T61 --------------------------------+------------------------------------------- Reporter: mgrela | Owner: lennart Type: defect | Status: new Priority: normal | Milestone: Component: daemon | Severity: normal Keywords: hal intel-hda alsa | --------------------------------+------------------------------------------- Hi
I'm having problems using pulseaudio on my Thinkpad T61. It doesn`t detect any audio sinks when run. I`m using hal-detect to do the device detection and it throws some weird messages in the logs (attached). The pactl stat command gives me: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ~ $ pactl stat Currently in use: 1 blocks containing 63,9 KiB bytes total. Allocated during whole lifetime: 1 blocks containing 63,9 KiB bytes total. Sample cache size: 0 B User name: grela Host Name: 4pll00555 Server Name: pulseaudio Server Version: 0.9.12 Default Sample Specification: s16le 2ch 44100Hz Default Sink: auto_null Default Source: auto_null.monitor Cookie: ded33829 I`m using pulseaudio-0.9.12 together with hal-0.5.1 and hal-info-20080508 on a Gentoo system. The sound works find using plain ALSA when running aplay -L: 4pll00555 ~ # aplay -L default:CARD=Intel HDA Intel, AD198x Analog Default Audio Device front:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, AD198x Analog Front speakers surround40:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, AD198x Analog 4.0 Surround output to Front and Rear speakers surround41:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, AD198x Analog 4.1 Surround output to Front, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround50:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, AD198x Analog 5.0 Surround output to Front, Center and Rear speakers surround51:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, AD198x Analog 5.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Rear and Subwoofer speakers surround71:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel, AD198x Analog 7.1 Surround output to Front, Center, Side, Rear and Woofer speakers hdmi:CARD=Intel,DEV=0 HDA Intel HDMI Audio Output null Discard all samples (playback) or generate zero samples (capture) or speaker-test: 4pll00555 ~ # speaker-test speaker-test 1.0.17 Playback device is default Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 1 channels Using 16 octaves of pink noise Rate set to 48000Hz (requested 48000Hz) Buffer size range from 2048 to 8192 Period size range from 1024 to 1024 Using max buffer size 8192 Periods = 4 was set period_size = 1024 was set buffer_size = 8192 0 - Front Left Time per period = 2,835575 0 - Front Left Time per period = 2,986571 0 - Front Left I`ve used a tool from the ALSA page to gather some info about my system.
