I'm presently trying to narrow down which version are affected and establish a test setup. I explored a number of potential mitigation strategy idea last night, all of them pretty hair brained, none of them particularly effective. I'm not sure how this is normally handled in ruby, but if the readpartial function is not available, the code should fall back to sysread (along with some code for handling EINTR).
