Issue #12335 has been updated by Nigel Kersten.
"given that we don’t have a proper inheritance override scheme for options, promoting the --version option in this way is actively hostile to work currently being done." Pieter, can you explain that a little more? Are you saying that we're going to step away from "puppet agent --version" completely? That is a very baked-in use case by our community, and I'd like to know more about the UX plans here. ---------------------------------------- Bug #12335: Face based commands don't support `--version` https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/12335#change-54695 Author: Daniel Pittman Status: Rejected Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: usability Target version: 2.7.11 Affected Puppet version: Keywords: Branch: Apparently, when building the wrappers that make Faces available as subcommands, we neglected to implement the `--version` option, so:
⚡ puppet --version 2.7.10 ⚡ puppet agent --version 2.7.10 ⚡ puppet node --version err: 'node' has no default action. See `puppet help node`.
We should remedy that, since it is a quite strange UI divergence. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
