Issue #12335 has been updated by Pieter van de Bruggen.
Nigel, Issue #12663 has been filed about making the version of a loaded Face more accessible. After much discussion, we're convinced that `--version` is clearly the best way to interrogate a version (both for Puppet itself and for individual Faces), but `--version <constraint>` is also the clearest way to specify the version of something you want installed (e.g. through the module tool). UX has decided that the module tool should be overloading the `--version` option. ---------------------------------------- Bug #12335: Face based commands don't support `--version` https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/12335#change-54887 Author: Daniel Pittman Status: Rejected Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: usability Target version: 2.7.11 Affected Puppet version: Keywords: Branch: Apparently, when building the wrappers that make Faces available as subcommands, we neglected to implement the `--version` option, so: <pre> ⚡ puppet --version 2.7.10 ⚡ puppet agent --version 2.7.10 ⚡ puppet node --version err: 'node' has no default action. See `puppet help node`. </pre> We should remedy that, since it is a quite strange UI divergence. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
