As I understand it, UX expect this to be done "out of band" to the individual
subcommands.

Bug #12335: Face based commands don't support `--version`
https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/12335#change-54733

Author: Daniel Pittman
Status: Rejected
Priority: Normal
Assignee:
Category: usability
Target version: 2.7.11
Affected Puppet version:
Keywords:
Branch:

Apparently, when building the wrappers that make Faces available as
subcommands, we neglected to implement the `--version` option, so:

⚡ puppet --version
2.7.10
⚡ puppet agent --version
2.7.10
⚡ puppet node --version
err: 'node' has no default action. See `puppet help node`.

We should remedy that, since it is a quite strange UI divergence.
