Issue #12335 has been updated by Nigel Kersten.
Pieter, I realized something we didn't take into account in our conversation. If we're serious about making Puppet more dynamic, with a smaller core and more variation in the components that people install on top of the core, it seems that being able to interrogate the version of specific subcommands is something users will need to do. ---------------------------------------- Bug #12335: Face based commands don't support `--version` https://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/12335#change-54819 Author: Daniel Pittman Status: Rejected Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: usability Target version: 2.7.11 Affected Puppet version: Keywords: Branch: Apparently, when building the wrappers that make Faces available as subcommands, we neglected to implement the `--version` option, so:
⚡ puppet --version 2.7.10 ⚡ puppet agent --version 2.7.10 ⚡ puppet node --version err: 'node' has no default action. See `puppet help node`.
We should remedy that, since it is a quite strange UI divergence. -- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
