Hello Purists. Would anybody be able to give me a hand? Just installed puredyne over my ubuntu karmic,it installed great, no problems. partitioned loveley alongside vista. I new it would tho ... the problem is that i cant update it because i connect to the net via a 3g usb modem., and the sysem doesnt seem to detect the device through the network applet. the modem is working, it flashes blue . "lsusb" shows the device.(it is a huwaei). I have added the settings(connection) in the network applet, but as it wont detect the device as being there, it wont connect to it. This problem also happened to me with the karmic ubuntu install, but i then had a choice of updating via ethernet and the problem was solved after that. One idea came to me that maybe because the usbmodem also has hard-disk space, and that this could be blocking the kernel from loading the right modules?????????I had this happen to me before with puppylinux and a usb headphone+mic set. (if I had an externel usb-disk plugged in with the headphone set, the headphone wouldnt work)...i solved that using a little propgram in puppylinux to blacklist modules. Im not sure how to do that with puredyne. Maybe there is a couple of .deb files that i could download using vista to update the networking system??? Could anyone please come to my rescue????? -- View this message in context: http://n3.nabble.com/usb-3g-modem-detection-issues-tp738562p738562.html Sent from the Puredyne mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
