Thanks for helping Mr Canning.
Well I downloaded modemmanager from here
http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/modemmanager ,,,,,
and installed with dpkg -i blahblah. Its didnt seem to need any dependencies
that was not installed.
Now the nmapplet detects the modem, and i can setup a connection with the
app. but.(there is always a but!) when I click on the newly created
connection in the drop-down menu to connect, the applet spins its little
signal for a brief second then stops. It doesnt think its connected.The blue
light on the modem how-ever, is lit up like a christmas tree.
If you think it might help, i could clear the dmesg buffer and give you what
happens only after i plug in the usb-stick????
