Thanks for helping Mr Canning. Well I downloaded modemmanager from here http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/modemmanager ,,,,, and installed with dpkg -i blahblah. Its didnt seem to need any dependencies that was not installed. Now the nmapplet detects the modem, and i can setup a connection with the app. but.(there is always a but!) when I click on the newly created connection in the drop-down menu to connect, the applet spins its little signal for a brief second then stops. It doesnt think its connected. The blue light on the modem how-ever, is lit up like a christmas tree. If you think it might help, i could clear the dmesg buffer and give you what happens only after i plug in the usb-stick???? -- View this message in context: http://n3.nabble.com/usb-3g-modem-detection-issues-tp738562p738828.html Sent from the Puredyne mailing list archive at Nabble.com.
