I have no idea what the appropriate response (aside from "Eat > sh*t and die you stupid machine!") would be. Experts? Beuller? Anyone?
I have a sneaky suspicion that RedHat (at least) may have moved the sound stuff somewhere else. I really despair of them: once upon a time they had a great distribution. Now they seem to see breaking standards compliance as some sort of duty! If you want to phrase the issue a bit more formally (without the "eat sh*t...."!) and in a bit more detail, I'll be happy to forward it to the Happy Hackers *nix group: there are people there who live RedHat. > > It's my considered opinion that Lex's changes ought to be incorporated, > but so far I haven't been able to arrange it. Seconded! Cheers John
