thanks for the quick reply. i found the source of all problems.
actually twofold:
1) mysqldb had a couple of orphaned temp egg's laying around and
2) i had remnants of macports left (the x11 pieces you should manually
track down :)
and there was another .pth file hanging around.
anyway, got it sorted out. thanks for the help!!
