If we ask where it should be installed, then we need a registry setting for that or we don't know where it's located when it is to be used. And if we ask, then people will install it in non-standard locations. While installers for software with Python don't want their users to be asked, so they'll install it in the standard location, overriding the managers preferred, updated custom location with the standard location with a database that is probably not updated. So I think that asking is not an option at all. It either goes in %PROGRAMDATA%\Python\zoneinfo or it's not shared at all. > I know where I would choose, and it would > not be on my C drive.
