Gary, this is due to xine not being able to determine the proper length of a mpeg2 video stream ( unfortunately ).
You can mitigate this by choosing [ Tools -> MedaiBackend -> QMplayerWidget ] which will then use mplayer to determine the length.MPlayer is much more accurate in this regard.
