Hi Mira, It is highly unlikely that any data can corrupt/modify QGIS as a software. It could crash it, but it can't modify binaries/libraries of QGIS.
Not knowing about your situation - are you sure that your whole system was in a healthy state? Perhaps one harddisk or partition was full? That could explain such a behaviour.
