I must respond, as a non-footballing Manchester resident, as are most of
Nemqlug's members, although it is not a prerequisite for membership!!
Fortunately we all live close enough to the 'traditional location of the
Endeavour Scout Hut' not to need hotel accommodation and those from further
afield were well warned of the possible shortage of hotel accommodation due
to the Reds playing at home. Is it the only reason for the non-attendance of
non-local QLers that the Reds were at home? I doubt it. I like Sarah (who
still says that she is a southerner!) believe that apathy could have been a
greater cause. We all know that nobody makes any money out of the QL any
more and that we all have to dig deep to support our hobby.

I can't understand your comment about Manchester always being a difficult
location for a show. It has a brilliant transport network of motorways, long
and short distance bus routes and a high speed tram service. It is the very
hub of the rail network and the International Airport is well within
striking distance of the chosen venue ( Via it's Railway Station where they
serve early morning coffees and bacon butties to die for!! - to say nothing
of the available refreshment houses in the locality especially those who
look after their drinking glasses but who turn a blind eye to Grand Larceny
of the table linen. I think that if our attendees did not have an overnight
stay - considering that it was a TWO day event, - then the attendance would
have been even worse.

All in all Geoff, a very fair and thorough report of the event and,
following our return from holiday, my renewal subscription is winging - or
has winged - its way to QLToday headquarters so that I can be assured of
access to the next thrilling instalment - The Hove Workshop.

Thanks.

John Gilpin.
