Dear Arnold, I would not be too sure about your diagnosis. I think Tony is quite right when saying that the problem is due to QPlane. The Aurora+SH+Qplane+Qubide I was trying to fix experienced the same identical problem with either a completely different Qubide or by replacing the two chips with new ones.

I took the machine to the QUANTA AGM plus workshop last April and J. Southern very kindly cured the problem saying "loose connections". Since then the machine has worked properly except that sometimes it will stop at one dot for a day or so. But it will usually start working again after that pause. Why? Ah I remember. I had similar problems when I used Qplane backplane. The problem went away with Mplane. I reckoned at the time it was a noise issue. What backplane do you have Arnold? Try a different arrangement of cards - maybe qubide nearer the QL, if you are using Qplane.
