Hello Bryan,

may well be - but in order to use a DTP program properly, you need to learn a lot. It took me months to get used to all features I use in Calamus 20 years ago .... and I simply do not have the time to learn
how to use a new, complex program.

I even tried to get used to InDesign some years ago as I thought it would be fairly easy for me to switch as it was programmed by the designers of Calamus (at least that's what I heard) and I found it different and difficult to use. It needs a lot of learning - and that's the problem: no spare time on my side.

The next issue of QL Today has to be ready in 2 1/2 months - so not much time to learn ... and most of my time needs to be used to earn money in the "main jobs".

So I keep buying updates for Calamus and support an old system like the QL as well :-)

Cheers Jochen

Hello Jochen,

My son, who is well into such things, says that Scribus is by far the freeware DTP programme of choice. I understand that my grandchildren will be using it, but I don't do any DTP nowadays.

Cheers,

Bryan Horstmann
