FWIW. I have an EPSON STYLUS printer which is recalcitrant if it is allowed to be dormant for any period of time ... if one did not know better, one would think that it, too, was broken.
When THAT happens, it is necessary to spend 5-to-10 minutes (maybe, it took a longer time -- who can remember?) pressing the button which tells the printer to CLEAR its print jets (whatever the process is called to re-initiate the printer). He (or, you) should try it. Patience is the key. BTW. I would send you my Epson printer (it has not been used for over 2 years ... I presume it works, but ...), but I know it would cost a sizeable amount for postage & I only presume it will eventually revive itself after having been dormant for so long. BTW2. I would think (meaning, it is something that I had often contemplated) that if one were clever with TRAnslated codes that the principle (i.e., non-graphical) functions could be implemented to generate basic type fonts for almost any printer with almost any driver. Maybe, maybe not. Perhaps, the graphical driver could be tweaked with TRA codes, too.
