Hi Tony,
Breaking with tradition and bottom posting! ;-)
In all the mailing lists and usenet lists I use, *everyone* bottom posts, and
they get flamed if they don't.
Yup, me too. Hence my slight and feeble attempt at humour.
As I am sure you know, I think top posting makes it so hard to pick up threads.
I think impossible!

I really really don't understand why top posting is so liked.
We read from top to bottom I expect? But actually, that's wrong! We read
from top to bottom, so bottom posting is the *only* correct way.
Unless we are emailing in Mandarin or other language that is not Top
Down of course.
.... well I do actually - it is harder to read on a mobile, but one gets used
to scrolling down.
Everything on a mobile involves scrolling down. Even my galaxy Tab with
a 7" screen required much scrolling!
I suppose it is that M$ products default to top quoting. Interestingly all the
mailers I have ever used (Turnpike, Thunderbird and Apple Mail) default to
bottom posting.
Agreed. Where there is a common way of doing something accepted world
wide, M$ comes along and bolloxes it right up. Take HTML emails for
example, the RFC says text - Outlook defaults to HTML. With certain
exceptions, most people buying a computer accept all the defaults and
so, a new "standard" appears.
We seem to have used the same email clients though! (Except Apple Mail)

Soak the pad with alcohol
Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) not 12yr malt whisky I presume (8-)#
Well, either - I never touch Whisky myself, can't stand the taste or the
smell. My dad was an alcoholic and a lorry driver (dangerous) who did
the distillery run and always had a bottle or two of the clear-blueish
raw spirit straight from the still.
I rather suspect the dissolved stuff in a 12 YO Malt would probably
taint the print heads though - so I'll stick with IPA.
...
Oh yes indeed. I loaned my printer to someone once who put it upside down (in
a box) on their hall carpet, and then complained to me about the black stain.
This must also have dislodged the print head as it never printed from then on.
I did not feel at all guilty about the stain!
Nice! I have to admit to being quite amazed at how much sponge could be
fitted inside a pretty small printer casing - and just how much ink it
could hold. Yuk!
Cheers,
Norm.
