Will this be a QUANTA event or independently organised?

I an not getting involved with the choice of venue and financing. This
is primarily an SQLUG event and they have the local knowledge that I
don't have. As Colin Mckay has said SQLUG has only 4 members and they do
need extra help.
I was actively involved in organising the programmes for QL2004 and
QLis21 and am happy to help SQLUG with this expertise.
It is for SQLUG to decide what involvement Quanta has in the event.
However, given Quanta's insistence that all committee members have to
have their expenses paid they would seem to have excluded themselves
from the event.
For all that I think Quanta has an important role to play especially in
the field of electronic communication. It is a paradox that an
organisation that has shown itself unable to run a website, is
nevertheless a pioneer in electronic participation. There is a lot we
can learn from them.
Please note that everything is still at a provisional stage. this
discussion helps us to plan. However the information we would really
like is an approximate idea of attendance,
Best Wishes,
Geoff
