Beth Gelert (current spelling Beddgelert in fact since the th or dd in
the Bedd bit is pronounced as 'th' in 'the' not 'th' in Beth or
Elizabeth) is a place in Snowdonia and legend has it that it's named
after a dog, Gelert, who was killed by his master when he thought the
dog had killed his son, but in fact the blood on the dog came from the
dog unsuccessfully defending the baby against a wolf. The dog's master
later realised his mistake...and a legend was created.

Bedd (or Beth) is Welsh for a grave or burial place.

Mind if I ask guys if this is relevant to the QL (OK, I know it
stemmed from the mention of the Gelert brand name in connection with a
QL logo).

>PS. Where is Beth Gelert - sounds like it could be either Wales or
Israel ??
Snowdonia, roughly south of Bangor/Caernarfon. There are many Israeli
style place names in that area actually - Bethlehem, Saron, Cesaraea
(places named after biblical names in the early Christian days I
think)

Next time Andrew and Norman visit (Bedd)Gelert, call in on me for a
cuppa or a pint and spot of QLing (phew, vaguely back on topic)
