I can't remember if I hacked the Chess cartridge, but I did hach something
else from Psion a long time ago - for Freddy V no less :o)
The system used to work, if I remember correctly, but loading an extension
(flrun, etc) from a file called ' ' (one space), then checking the master
cartridge details and then loading - via this flrun - the main game boot
file which lived in a tokenised SuperBasic file called ' ' (two spaces) or
'_' (underscore).
I simply loaded the flrun extensions, then FLOADed the main boot file and
listed it :o)
Having figured out what it did, I changed it to boot from any device, and
not to bother with the master cartridge checking routine - which was just a
header read from the tape in mdv1 if I'm not mistaken.
FLRUN etc were precursors to QSAVE and QLOAD etc

Which reminds me; were
[are?] FLRUN, FSAVE and FBOOT "Fast-" versions of the normal LRUN, etc in
that they save/load a program in tokenadized (as opposed to normal LISTing)
format?
