Well if it is in the binary only, then it won't be in the other versions,
will it?

However, to act like that would, of course, defeat the entire
enterprise of havung a unified version of SMSQ/E...

I would be pretty hesitant to include something like that in the
official version since I think it would go against my very mission...

Let's distinguish between two cases here. Take the example of the
"MOVEP' instruction, which Fabrizio Diversi is taking out of the
code.

This will benefit, practcally, the Q60 only. I would , therefor, include
it without any qualms in the Q60 version - it is Q60 specific.
So, no lowest common denominator.
If now another development were done, perhaps like P. Witte's idea
of a home directory, i.e. something from which everybody would
profit, that and this would be given to me under the proviso that it
must be included only in one version, I would look very hard at
including it but exluding it from other versions - don't you think I
would be right to?.

The difference is always, that MY perspective is to advance
SMSQ/E on all machines, if feasible.

Moreover, to be quite frank, I think that this discussion is VERY
theoretical.

Why?

Because those who would want to exclude code from the benefit
for other machines, are seemingly also those that have put
themselves outside of the whole idea of developping software for
SMSQ/E anyway.

Where are all the hordes of programmers wishing to do something
for SMSQ/E.

Oh, sorry I forgot - none of them likes the licence so they prefer not
to do anything (or do it out of sight)!

THAT hinders development of SMSQ/E.
