Try unplugging the Qubide or at least the hard drive. We currently suspect that the Qubide ROM is the problem.

The QubIDE ROM is not the problem as demonstrated on my system. However poor timings are most likely the culprit.
I have tried QubIDE with both 1.56 and 2.01 ROMS and it works fine AS LONG AS you either have a good psu/good backplane... Mplane is the best for this -or-very short IDE cables (the latter being imperative). When I shortened my IDE cable, SMSQ/E powered up immediately.
