 I _know_ Nasta has a definitive answer, but yes, that is my
understanding exactly.

There is a similar problem on the QL network.  There will always be two
unused network sockets and they should be automagically terminated (330R
I think). Unfortunately the crummy Sinclair sockets often don't.  A 330R
soldered in a jack plug does the trick - and did for Phoebus earlier.

The 80 way cable adds a ground line between every signal line.
That was something else that Nasta suggested I did on a design that Lau
and I worked on for someone designing a reaction tester.
Not only did I never get paid by the b******r but I even wasted �60 on
the toothless small claims court.
There is absolutely nothing sensible one can do if the defendant simply
does not respond.
