Hello Davide,
Garmin want you to buy the Edge 820 ;-)

A solution could be:
head over to http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/ or http://extract.bbbike.org/
and exctract your favourite region. These one are small enough to fit
your device (I know that they don't provide the openmtbmap.org style...)

Maybe this will work for you:
Once you know which tile numbers you need, you can use the following
codeline, which picks only the tiles needed (from openmtbmap) and creates
a gmapsupp.img.

With mkgmap it could go like this (for openmtbmap ALPS):

java -jar -Xmx2048M mkgmap.jar --index --family-id=6528 --
description="mtbmap_my_region" --series-name="mtbmap_my_region" --family-
name="mtbmap_my_region" --product-id=1 --gmapsupp 65280000.img
65280001.img 65280002.img widealp.TYP

in this example no counterlines are included. I know your problem very
well - I live in the border of Austria, Italy and Slovenia. I'm lucky
enough to own a device with enoogh memory and a SD slot, so i can use the
region for the Alps...

HTH
Regards,
