I think that the oft-repeated answer is that one should profile actual
bandwidth usage at one's site before and after using qmail to see
whether -your- bandwidth actually increases.  This can be a very
local-connection specific thing.  Thought examples may seem to be
true on the surface, without being true for you.

The first question to ask is, what kind of smtp bandwidth is being used
now?  Is that bandwidth metered?  How much can you grow smtp bandwidth
useage without incurring further costs?

The answers to those questions should tell you whether you're even asking
the right questions to begin with.

Are you examining your text ftp usage the same way as your mail usage?
