Ah - I should have thought of that. I thought the pid was long-gone, but of course it’s logged. And it turned up in the smtp log, not the submission log. So I’ve been softlimiting the wrong process! The softlimit in /var/qmail/supervise/smtp/run is 64000000 still. I’ll pump that up and see how it goes, but I’m pretty confident now. Thanks very much for the clues.
