Domain users usually use port 587 (submission) to authenticate for relay
purposes. How many users do you have? And, which ones are using the
submission port to authenticate in order to send email?

Steve,
You should be able to tell immediately if it's working or not.
The qmailctl start / stop process, compared to qmailctl restart,
definitely worked, as far as resetting the process goes.
I dropped the softlimit back to 100 megs (which still feels like an
awful lot) and got immediate segfaults. I bumped it up to 200 megs about
30 minutes ago, and no segfaults so far, but sometimes they’re a few
hours apart. I don’t know exactly what’s triggering them, so in part,
it’s kind of a waiting game.
