Seriously, how could you use linux for webdevelopment without virtualisation
for a "normal" market?

As long as 60-80% of the users (based on the market) used an internet explorer,
there is no way around testing your pages/apps with that browser. And as sooner
as better (I made the mistake of testing it late in development only one
time...). Even with qooxdoo there are a lot of problems with IE...

So you have the choose:
1. Windows with Cygwin
2. Windows with Virtualization
3. Linux with Virtualization

I wont bet on IE with wine, I found different behavior to a "real" windows too
often.

Also vmware gives you 95% of the speed for most non-heavy hdd usage
applications that don't do much graphic. And to be the base for qooxdoo
development you need only an extrem small linux with python, autotools,
qooxdoo, smb and apache and everything is perfect. No gui needed, not much hdd
usage. You won't even feel the difference to a normal standalone development
server.

I use three different plattforms (based on my need):
1. Windows with Cygwin
2. Windows with Linux in VMWare
3. Pure Linux

And all of them runs perfectly (I never had the problem with cygwin written
here, and I use it for 1 1/2 year now :) ).

Greetings,
  Leander
